Close (2022)

Resulting from an ongoing and sustained practice by Jordan Fuchs and Lily Sloan in weekly explorations of contact improvisation, Close is an improvised 7:30 minute duet, in which a simple pool of light, both heightens the attention to detail and subtlety, and intentionally confines the two dancers in space, limiting opportunities for the use of momentum and impulse. Instead, the two dancers seamlessly and subtly alternate between supporting and being supported in puzzle-piece locking and unlocking of cantilevered body shapes.
